The Binary & Maths History Museum organized the international Kangaroo Mathematics Competition, a global event aimed at promoting mathematical culture and fostering logic and reasoning skills among young learners.

This year, the competition brought together 334 participants from 22 schools across different provinces (wilayas) of the country. It was open to students aged six and above, and was held:

  • in Arabic for primary and middle-school students,
  • in English for high-school students.

The competition is presented as a multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ). It is not a race against time but a challenge of thinking and logic, designed to stimulate curiosity, creativity, and a love for mathematics.

§ 01An International Dimension

The Kangaroo Mathematics Competition is the largest mathematics contest in the world, with over six million students participating across 96 countries every year. Its international scope allows participants to gain a unique learning experience, compare their skills globally, and explore different educational approaches.

Six million students. Ninety-six countries. The same patient question, asked of every young person on Earth.

§ 02Educational Objectives

Participating in Kangaroo helps students to:

  • discover mathematics in a fun and engaging way,
  • develop logic, precision, and critical thinking skills,
  • challenge themselves alongside peers worldwide,
  • and experience a truly international educational event.

The certificate they take home is, in a sense, a passport — proof that they speak a language understood from Annaba to Stockholm to Bangkok.

Le Musée d'Histoire des Mathématiques & du Binaire a organisé la compétition internationale Kangourou des Mathématiques, un événement mondial visant à promouvoir la culture mathématique et la logique chez les jeunes apprenants.

Cette année, la compétition a réuni 334 participants de 22 écoles à travers plusieurs wilayas. Elle était ouverte aux élèves âgés de six ans et plus, et s'est déroulée :

  • en arabe pour les élèves du primaire et du collège,
  • en anglais pour les lycéens.

La compétition se présente sous forme de QCM. Ce n'est pas une course contre la montre, mais un défi de pensée et de logique conçu pour stimuler la curiosité, la créativité et l'amour des mathématiques.

§ 01Une dimension internationale

Le Kangourou est la plus grande compétition de mathématiques au monde, avec plus de six millions d'élèves participants dans 96 pays chaque année. Sa portée internationale offre une expérience d'apprentissage unique, la comparaison à l'échelle mondiale et la découverte d'approches éducatives différentes.

Six millions d'élèves. Quatre-vingt-seize pays. La même question patiente, posée à chaque jeune sur Terre.

§ 02Objectifs éducatifs

Participer au Kangourou aide les élèves à :

  • découvrir les mathématiques de manière ludique,
  • développer logique, précision et esprit critique,
  • se mesurer à des pairs du monde entier,
  • vivre un événement éducatif international.

Le certificat qu'ils emportent est, en un sens, un passeport — la preuve qu'ils parlent une langue comprise d'Annaba à Stockholm.

نظّم متحف تاريخ الرياضيات والثنائي مسابقةَ كانغرو الرياضيات الدولية، حدثٌ عالميٌّ يهدف إلى نشر الثقافة الرياضية وتنمية المنطق والاستدلال لدى الناشئة.

هذا العام، جمعت المسابقة ٣٣٤ مشاركاً من ٢٢ مدرسة عبر ولاياتٍ مختلفة. وفُتحت للأعمار من ست سنواتٍ فما فوق، وعُقدت:

  • بالعربية لطلبة الابتدائي والإعدادي،
  • بالإنكليزية لطلبة الثانوي.

تأتي المسابقة في صيغة أسئلةٍ متعدّدة الخيارات. ليست سباقاً مع الوقت، بل تحدّياً للفكر والمنطق، مصمّماً لإثارة الفضول والإبداع وحبّ الرياضيات.

§ ٠١بُعدٌ دولي

كانغرو الرياضيات هي أكبر مسابقة رياضياتٍ في العالم، بأكثر من ستّة ملايين مشاركٍ سنويّاً في ٩٦ دولة. ويتيح بُعدها الدولي للمشاركين تجربةً تعلّميّةً فريدة، ومقارنةً عالميةً لمهاراتهم، واستكشافَ مقاربات تعليميةٍ مختلفة.

ستّةُ ملايين طالب. ستٌّ وتسعون دولة. السؤال الصبور ذاته، يُطرَح على كلّ ناشئٍ على وجه الأرض.

§ ٠٢الأهداف التربوية

المشاركة في كانغرو تُساعد الطلاب على:

  • اكتشاف الرياضيات بطريقةٍ ممتعةٍ شائقة،
  • تنمية المنطق والدقّة والتفكير النقدي،
  • تحدّي أنفسهم مع أقرانٍ من كلّ مكان،
  • وعيش حدثٍ تربويٍّ دوليٍّ حقيقي.

الشهادة التي يحملونها معهم هي، بمعنىً ما، جواز سفر — دليلٌ على أنّهم يتحدّثون لغةً مفهومةً من عنّابة إلى ستوكهولم وبانكوك.
